This update is from Adam.

First, let me give a brief update of where things stand with Allie. After being admitted last week Allie’s symptoms changed daily. What started as predominantly a problem with bone pain has morphed into a respiratory issue. Her pain meds have been cut to almost nothing but she is needing oxygen. They are working hard to prepare Allie for transport. While we were initially intending to make it to MD Anderson, they have no space and will not accept a transfer from an ICU. So, now we are working on a transfer to Cleveland Clinic most likely by ambulance. Today they are making calls and trying to communicate between doctors and hospitals. I expect the earliest we would move would be tomorrow. As for specific requests, pray that Clinic will accept Allie, pray that her oxygen needs are low enough to be accepted onto the leukemia floor rather than the ICU at the Clinic, pray for her ears as she is having trouble hearing. This is pretty frustrating for Allie since she loves people and is struggling to be able to communicate.

Second, I wanted to thank everyone for their calls, texts, and prayers. When Allie was resting I would read them and I was incredibly thankful to be reminded of how impactful Allie has been and how much she is loved. She is still fighting and it is still doing things that only Allie does. Despite being in ICU she convinced her nurses to go for a walk. She has an IV pole and an oxygen tank and two nervous nurses and she wants to make it to the next desk. Despite only being here a week and being pretty sick, she has already bonded with her nurses. She always has been an easy one to love.

23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.

You and I have never had the pleasure in meeting each other. I have known Allie for more than half my life. It does not surprise me to hear that she has already bonded to her nurses after only one week. She is someone who has touched my life probably more than she will ever know. Her strength and faith amazes me everyday. My love and prayers are with her and your whole family.

    Adam,
Allie and I have a great understanding. I miss her bopping her head in my office to say “You doin’ ok?” ……as a personal trainer here at The Natatorium she is still being requested. On Friday of this past week, a new person asked me…. “I heard you had a trainer named Allie who was the best, can I have her?”
I can hear her bugging the nurse to go to the next desk, why not, she has to push that is who she is and always will be.
I am sending you my love and support, I miss her here every day.
    Karyn

Adam, thanks for the update. Chris and Ellie are keeping us informed, too. And thanks for listing specific prayer requests. That means a lot when we are not able to help in other ways, and just don’t know what to ask anymore.

You wrote that Allie is easy to love. You are so right! I remember meeting her at Ellie and Chris’ wedding almost 10 years ago. It was easy to see how much both of you were smitten with each other. So cute!

We love all of you, and are praying that each of you gets what they need from the Lord. Sending many hugs via email. Safe travels, too!

We all will keep praying, hoping, and entrusting you all continually to God.

  47. Lois Ann August 6, 2013 at 8:35 am #

Adam, the messages that you and Allie share are so welcomed and hopefully it is providing some strength and comfort to know how many of us are following your journey. Our the prayers, love and concern continue to be extended to both of you and the family. After speaking with Tara last night I found comfort knowing that the Kura/Clark families are all still in Michigan together and that the girls are continuing to share memorable times with their cousins through this part of Allie’s journey. I’m sure you and Allie are comforted knowing that they are surrounded with so much love and support from the family. Love and prayers to both of you as you face each decision involved in the next steps in your journey.

  48. Emily Holody :) August 6, 2013 at 8:49 am #

  49. Brad August 6, 2013 at 9:14 am #

Adam, thank you for this update. Every time I read one of Allie’s blog, all I keep thinking of is Jimmy Valvano speech many years ago where he stated; “I urge all of you, all of you to enjoy your life. To spend each day with some laughter and thought and to get your emotions going.”

Allie is a reflection of his foundations motto ” don’t ever give up, don’t ever give up.”

Adam, praying for your family and your requests and if you get a chance, tell Allie I say Hello!

    Peace and God Bless.

  50. Karen Smith August 6, 2013 at 9:32 am #

Allie, you amaze me! Love that you are still walking around with your extra equipment and showing those nurses that it’s GOOD to get up and walk, even if it’s just to the door and back!
Hoping you’re pain is less and your oxygenation improves. I wish I could come and be your personal transporter!
I would say stay strong, but you already have that part perfected! May you feel God’s comfort surrounding you and his hand in yours. Love you Allie

  52. Tracy August 6, 2013 at 10:59 am #

I’m spreading the word and getting as many people as I can to pray for Allie. May many voices become shouts lifted up to god in prayers.

Allie, Adam, girls and extended family,
I do not know your family personally, but I heard Allie speak at the women’s tea at the Northfield Presbyterian Church last December. I was moved by her story since my mom had just finished chemo that July and many things Allie said hit home. I can’t tell you how much Allie has impacted my own prayer time since I started following the blog in December. All of you have been true inspirations and Allie’s strength and faith have been incredible testimonies to so many. She has been a true light throughout this journey and I know God has used Allie to shine this light and touch so many of us that she doesn’t even know. Thank you! My prayers continue to be constant as Allie and the entire family are always on my mind. My prayer is for God’s healing power to flow through Allie and continue to give clarity and strength in every step. Always in my heart, Krista New

Even before you were married, i remember Allie standing in the kitchen and quoting the verse in Jeremiah that says ” I know the plans I have for you” Even then, I could see a very strong Christian young lady who was trusting God for her future. We continue to pray that His plan is for healing . You have a beautiful family in oh so may ways. Love you all. Praying lots.
